Writing Center Tutoring Services
Our writing center team is standing by to assist students with their reading and writing
skill-building. We believe that successful writers, whether beginning or more experienced,
benefit from discussing their work with an engaged and supportive audience. Therefore,
we are here to help Mt. SAC writers at any stage of the writing process, from brainstorming
on a topic, to drafting that first version, to revising the final product. We cannot
wait to discuss your goals, review your work with you, and help you take your next
steps.
You can schedule appointments for online tutoring via our platform, WCOnline, or drop-in
to our center on campus for walk-ins. Sessions are 30 minutes or an hour, depending
on your needs. We will accommodate more than one appointment in a day if capacity
allows it, but we encourage you to work independently between sessions, applying what
was learned during the prior session. You are welcome to use our on campus computer
lab to do so. Come on in, we cannot wait to work with you.

What is a tutor in the classroom?
Tutor in the Classroom (TC) Program: Who and what is a TC?
A TC is a tutor assigned to specific English and/or AMLA writing courses (with priority
given to ENG 1A/80 and AMLA 90 sections). TCs lead supplemental group sessions and
provide individual outside of class time in addition to assisting with several hours
on in-class time every week. They provide a collaborative and interactive learning
environment where students can improve their understanding of the course through additional
practice and reinforcement of class materials. Note: TCs are not guaranteed for all
English levels due to budget restrictions.

Request a TC for your Class:
TCs are, if funding allows, automatically assigned to English 1A/80. If you would
like to request an in-class tutor to be assigned to your non-1A/80 class, please email
