Teacher Preparation Workshops


Basic Skills Requirement Information

All California future educators (TK-12) are required to meet the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing's (CTC) Basic Skills Requirement (BSR).  Click here to learn more about how the basic skills requirement can be fulfilled.  

Subject Matter Competency

All California future educators (TK-12) are required to meet the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing's (CTC) Subject Matter Competency.  Click on the corresponding link to learn more about how the subject matter competency can be fulfilled: Multiple Subject or Single Subject.

CBEST Test

Teacher Preparation students should complete the CBEST test during their time here at Mt. SAC. Once passed, the certification is good for life. The 4-hour Basic Skills test covers reading comprehension, math and essay writing. Teacher Preparation Center recommends that students who have passed English 1A and Math 71 are prepared to pass this test. Teacher Preparation Center urges all future teachers to take the CBEST before transferring to a 4-year college.

2022 CBEST, CSET & RICA Workshops:

Mt. SAC's Teacher Preparation Institute will be having virtual workshops beginning May 5, 2022 through June 25, 2022 for the CBEST, CSET (multiple subject) and RICA. The workshops are open to all future educators.   Workshop Registration.
